$5 Fine for whining
So said the hilarious sign above the bar we went to after the show in Northampton last night, suffice to say that not one single moan escaped our lips as we lapped up some tasty Guiness after playing to another fine crowd. A few of us had some drinks with those fine Essex Green lads. It was so cold there last night, I applaud everyone who made it out there or any of the other nights we've played recently. Everyone assumes that Scotland is cold but this is something else, we have the Gulf Stream, mild winters these days, crappy summers too. Sounds lovely, huh?
At the moment we are in Boston and play the Paradise club tonight. I share a room with Francois and he's currently overdubbing some trumpet part on his tiny 4 track recorder. He never stops! I on the other hand will probably switch on the Chuck Norris channel on TV when i've finished this.
We watched The Departed on the plane on the way over so are all a bit weary of Boston's seedy underbelly, better watch it tonight! Only kidding, i'm excited because I have friends here and i'm sure they'll buy me dinner, talking of which, the competition to find the most generous audience is still on. Mine's a Whiskey with ice.

When you visit Ottawa on Tuesday, be sure to bring your warmest mittens and toques because it's very frigid here right now (they are saying it feels like -27C with the windchill).
I'm sure the joy from the audience will help keep you toasty... but nothing can sustain warmth in these temps.
See you Tuesday!
On the RobbieFulks.com message board last night, I wrote, "I feel a wee bit bad for Camera Obscura. They are playing in Northampton, Massachusetts tonight, and it's supposed to get down to about -21°C. Accustomed to the more temperate climes of Glasgow, the poor dears probably aren't used to such a chill."
A Glaswegian fellow board member replied, "As long as it's pissing down, they'll be fine. I wish them all the best in the land of Imperial Fascism/Hegemonic Fundamentalism. Hope they get back to modern civilisation soon..."
I am glad that the temperatures are more mild tonight. See you there!
I apologize for being the smartass at the Paradise, but i'm sure you guys enjoyed it. (It's called winter!) ...At least I didn't yell out "Freebird!"
Thank you for being gracious to our visitors, the drunk Yankees, this evening. Certainly not the conduct of Bostonians. Apologies for the leaky ceiling. Will fix. Fantastic show. Cheers.
Gorgeous show at the Paradise in Boston, thank you so much. Wish I could follow you up to Canda for more magic. Stay warm!
It's not going to be any warmer in Chicago next weekend, but I'll be happy to buy a round of whiskey to keep everyone warm!
Does anyone know if Lloyd Cole, who lives one town over from Northampton, Mass, made it to the Pearl Street show?
actually, it looks like lloyd cole was playing in glasgow on friday night ... Glasgow City Halls 'Celtic Connections
Pardon my whining, but.....I couldn't get in due to the sell-out! I suppose that I should congratulate the band on selling out the Paradise, but I am still annoyed. You sold out!
drunk yankees rule! ! !!

Hola
You know where it's warm most of the time? Baton Rouge, LA. And yet: you aren't playing here. I've decided to spend the rest of the day feeling sad about that. This does not count as whining. It's more of a plaintive wheedle.
Alrighty then, I can set you(singular, plural?) up with a wee dram, plus rocks, in Denver but I believe the Bluebird favors Jameson's, which is not the same thing (at least in my book).
But really you need to head across the street after the show and work on your tequila fortitude at Mezcal's (great late night tacos too). No whiskey in Mexico I'm afraid ;->.
Despite how sad I was yesterday (my favourite Guinea pig Gretchen died on Monday night), I really enjoyed the lovely show in Ottawa.
I wish you all a wonderful tour and hope to see you back on this side of Canada soon.
Cheers,
Krishna
So sad I missed the Boston show. I've been trying to catch you guys for a few yrs now. Next time I guess?
You should go to Twisted Spoke in Chicago for some whiskey. Not only is it on draft for only $2, but they show bad 70s porn after midnight.
